March 25, 2010 – The long spell of warm weather and sunshine has sure been nice and it made for an early spring this year.  We did have quite the cold snap last night and it was 12 degrees here this morning, but the sun is trying to warm us up.  The high is only expected to reach the low to mid 30's today, which is down quite a bit from the previous temperatures.

The turkeys have been coming to the bird feeder every day now for almost a week.  There seems to be two groups, one with about a fifteen birds with a mix of hens and jakes.  The other group is six to seven toms, one with a longer beard compared to the others.  The group dynamics are changing and two hens came in followed by six displaying and gobbling toms.  They are quite the site to see and I enjoy both watching and listening to them.  I probably have more turkeys photos than I can ever use, but I can't resist photographing them each time I get the opportunity.  This morning they left just as the sun was starting to kiss their tail feathers as they strutted and the sun broke over the hill and spilled into the backyard.

Yesterday I saw the first pair of wood ducks down in the creek and a large mink was running along the bank as well.
