“The wolf pose in this painting is based on photographs I took during a trip to the Grizzle Bear discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Wyoming. in 2003. Three wolves were standing in the dew-soaked grass and as they looked around, the morning sun bathed them with a nearly white halo of light as it streamed in behind them.  The background idea is the result of an early morning walk at the Fall Workshop which I hold each year near Grayling, Michigan.  It was a foggy morning and the rising sun was straining to push through the dense fog and think pine branches.  The struggle produced some stunning light effects.”
